The WPP System is comprised of 3 main components: Client Units, Hub/AP Units, and Master Units. It's this modular design that allows the system to be extremely flexible while still being cost-effective and easy to deploy/maintain.
A Hub/AP unit is a Client unit that provides the additional features necessary to establishing and maintaining a wireless network. Hub/AP devices provide several important features that distinguish them from Clients:
1. Wireless Access Point: All devices in a wireless network must either connect to an existing wireless signal (a client) or create one (an Access Point). Hub/AP units provide this second type of functionality and allow the wireless component of a WPP system to operate. If you plan to utilize the wireless connection of WPP Clients you'll need to make sure you have at least one Hub/AP unit installed.
2. Wired trunking/fiber-optic integration: In addition to providing the required wireless signal Hub/AP units can also be configured to include an integrated fiber-optic termination panel and media converter; this allows you to extend your WPP system beyond the wireless coverage area.
The WPP System is designed to provide an integrated, unified telecommunications solution for outbuildings, isolated structures, and any other area where hard-wiring is not possible or not cost-effective. It provides a transparent wireless data networking solution that integrates an end-to-end dry contact signaling system, allowing you to establish a single wireless presence for both data and alarm/automation systems.
